The new Library, located in the town centre of Antrim occupys a prominent corner site. Internally, the spatial concepts involve open plan and cellular layouts accommodating a range of functions, from internet café to traditional book/desktop and community meeting rooms and study groups. The ground floor facing brick fin walls and curtain glazing with terracotta vertical tiling, combine with the upper floor of honed sandstone cladding panels satisfy the Clients aspirations for a modern, welcoming, cutting edge learning facility. Rain water harvesting, water efficient fittings, and the provision of bat and swift boxes, are among the measures proposed to achieve a Very Good rating under the BREEAM bespoke criteria.
